Insurance claims are always a priority at First General.

If your loss requires emergency board-up or repairs, we are available 24 hours a day. If you need emergency repairs or board-up, we will contact you within 1 hour of receiving your claim.

If emergency services are not required, we will contact you within 1 day of receiving your claim. Our estimator will inspect your property within 2 days and have a written estimate prepared within 5 days.

In order to process your insurance repairs as efficiently as possible, First General will need some basic information regarding your insurance policy and claim. Insurance companies often refer claims directly to us and provide this information on your behalf. However, if you call First General directly, it is helpful to have the following information available:

  • Name of insurance company
  • Policy number
  • Amount of deductible
  • Name of insurance adjuster (if known)
  • Claim number (if known)
  • Insurance agency (where you purchased your policy)

When an insurance claim is reported to us, either by you or your insurance company, our estimator will make an appointment to inspect your property. We will provide you with a comprehensive written estimate to repair the damage, and coordinate with your insurance company if necessary to ensure that the scope of work is consistent with what your policy says.

When you decide to have First General do your repairs, we require a signed agreement of sale and payment of your insurance deductible before the work is started. When this is finalized, our production manager will contact you to schedule the repairs. During the repair process, our crews will do their best to minimize the disruption to your home, and will always treat your property with the utmost respect. Should you have any questions or concerns while the work is underway, you may contact our office at any time.

When your repairs are completed, you will need to sign off on the work to satisfy insurance requirements. In some cases, the insurance company will issue payment directly to First General. In other cases, the insurance company will issue payment to you, and we will invoice you for the repairs.

As with all First General jobs, our insurance repair work carries a 2-year warranty.
